| How to Take a Picture of Lightning at Night Taking a picture of lightning at night is not complicated. Mount the camera on a tripod and point it in the direction of the lightning strikes. Your camera needs to have the ability to hold the shutter open. I my case it will stay open as long as 15 seconds when set up properly (read your camera instructions). Count the number of seconds between lightning strikes. (Not the time from strike to thunder). The time between lightning strikes will be fairly consistent, this will let you know when to open the shutter if your camera has a time limit like mine. Beyond this, it is luck and patience to get a picture you like. |
